Submission Guide

Idea Phase:

Concept Development:

  • Outline the core concept for enhancing accessibility in Microsoft Teams using ASL interpretation and closed captioning.
  • Identify key features and technical requirements needed for your solution.
  • Review OWASP and NIST guidelines to ensure initial ideas are aligned with security and compliance standards.
  • Determine the appropriate use of REST API calls and LLMs for your project.

Planning and Documentation:

  • Create a high-level plan for project setup, including key milestones for development.
  • Document your approach to integrating ASL and captioning features within Microsoft Teams.
  • Prepare a basic outline of the documentation that will be needed for the prototype phase.

Prototype Phase:

Project Setup and Configuration:

  • Ensure your project is configured to support real-time ASL interpretation using avatars/gravatars in Microsoft Teams.
  • Implement real-time closed captioning in U.S. English.
  • Adhere to all provided security and compliance guidelines, including OWASP and NIST standards.
  • Use only pre-approved REST API calls and LLMs.

Documentation:

  • Provide detailed documentation for code, setup, and deployment, ensuring that your tool can be easily integrated into a secure environment.
  • Include instructions on how to enable or disable ASL and captioning features.

Final Submission:

  • Submit a fully functional tool or bot-based solution that meets all business and technical requirements.
  • Include a demonstration video showcasing the tool's functionality within a Microsoft Teams meeting.
  • Ensure that all necessary files, documentation, and any other relevant materials are included in your submission package.

Security and Compliance:

  • Verify that your tool is free from security vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with Section 508, ADA standards, OWASP, and NIST guidelines.
  • Make sure no data is stored outside the approved ecosystem.
